Ketogenic diets, also known as low-carb, are diets that restrict the amount of carbohydrates and fats in the diet.

But it can be hard to cut back on the number of calories and carbohydrates in your diet without going over your calorie intake.
To help with that, many people with a high-carb diet have been experimenting with keto diets, which cut out refined carbs and added sugars to reduce their overall intake.
In keto, ketones are produced when the body uses fat to store energy.
So if you’ve got high-fat foods in your home and are a high carb eater, you’re likely to have a high percentage of your daily calorie intake come from fat.
To make this more realistic, ketogenic diets tend to limit the amount you eat of refined carbs such as white bread, potatoes, bread, pasta, cereals, rice and refined sugars.
For example, you might eat half a bag of brown rice per day, or 1 cup of whole wheat toast per day.
So, if you have a 40-gram bag of white bread and you eat 1 cup per day of it, you will have 40 grams of carbs in your daily intake.
The problem with the low-fat version is that it’s not ketogenic.
So when you’re eating a ketogenic low-calorie diet, you are still consuming the same amount of carbs as you would on a regular low- carb diet.
You’re eating the same number of carbohydrates as you are on a high fat diet.
Ketogenic low carb also includes whole grain breads, whole grain pasta, whole wheat breads and other low- or high-fiber foods, but the ketogenic version tends to be a little bit more refined.
