The WA Department of Primary Industries says the delivery company, based in Perth’s CBD, has about 500 people employed in the region.
The company says its Chinese food is delivered to remote villages in WA with a focus on rural WA.
Chinese food delivery has been gaining popularity in WA in recent years, with the Chinese delivery service Zhiqiang providing delivery services to Perth, Hobart and other regions in Western Australian.
The Chinese food carrier has expanded into the remote WA region of the state with its latest expansion plan, according to the company’s founder, Chen Zheng.
“We have a business plan, we have a budget and we have some things to start, like expanding the company and the office,” Mr Chen said.
“And we’re working closely with the department of agriculture and we’re trying to get approvals for our expansion.”
China Food Delivery is an international company.
Its website says the service provides Chinese food to Western Australia, WA, Western Australia’s capital Perth and parts of the New South Wales Central Coast.
It is based on a business model based around the Chinese demand for Chinese food, the company says.
“Our delivery service offers a variety of Chinese cuisine, ranging from traditional Chinese food such as stir-fried noodles and noodles cooked with garlic, to more contemporary dishes such as soups and stir-fries,” it says.
The business is not affiliated with a specific Chinese government, but the company said it does “not accept government funds”.
“The company is an independent company, operated by its owners and employees,” it said.”[Its] goal is to provide high quality Chinese cuisine in WA.”
The company has about 50 workers in Western WA, but its CEO said its expansion would boost its employment numbers.
“It will certainly make us more competitive, we can now reach more people in our area, it’s a really good investment,” he said.
The State Government has been keen to attract Chinese food providers to WA.
It has invested in new facilities to house the delivery firm, including an upgrade to its warehouse.
The Government says it will consider further funding for the company.
